The NSW Government has initiated the Special Activation Precinct, or SAP, programme, to stimulate economic growth, innovation, and job creation in rural New South Wales, supported by capital funding from the Snowy Hydro legacy funding.
The first SAP to be announced is at Parkes.
dsquared provided specialist ESD, Sustainability, and Circular Economy consultancy services as part of the Jensen Plus team to develop the master plan for the new SAP, a new 3,500 hectare eco-industrial precinct comprising intermodal freight terminals, waste-to-energy municipal power plants, agribusiness and advanced manufacturing facilities.
Feasibility reviews included inset energy networks, alternative energy generation technologies, alternative water technologies, and rating tools including Green Star, ISCA, and NCOS Carbon Neutral certification. The draft ESD Plan includes the UNIDO Eco-Industrial Park Framework as a foundation stone.
